2 days 1 night Trip to Malacca

Well Oh Well.....

Last Saturday I went to Melaka with my friend. We were from Segamat Johor. We took a bus from Segamat and the journey only took 2 hours. We arrived exactly at 12 pm. Well, we were picked up by Uncle Ben (our tour guide for this trip). It was a joy to meet Uncle Ben after quite  a long time since my convocation last year. Meeting old friend is always a joy for me.

Well, the first thing that we did after touch down Melaka was going for lunch in Jonker Street. Of course, the first food that we ate was Melaka's famous food which was Baba Laksa Kahwin Nyonya Asam Laksa. The stall that we went was Jonker 88 which is quite famous in Jonker Street. When we arrived there, there was quite a long queue there and hard to find seat. Thankfully we managed to get one. What can I say about the Asam Laksa? It was so delicious, until now, I am still thinking about it. Really worth to queue for it. And it only costs you RM5++.

Apart from the Asam Laksa, we were also having the famous Baba Chendol @Jonker 88. Although, there were not much things in it, the outer appearance definitely looked attractive and make you want to try it. Besides Baba Chendol, there are much more you can try there. But, of course, I want to try the basic one. Maybe next trip, I will try others.

Baba Chendol.. Very mouthwatering..

Aside from Baba Chendol and Asam Laksa, we also managed to buy famous Pineapple tart for only RM8 at LW Nyonya Pineapple Tart @Jonker Street.

Then, after having lunch, since it was so hot, we went to Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan, two of the large malls in Melaka. They are only beside each other. Shopping a bit and managed to get my Starbucks though. Tried the mocha cookie crumble frappucinno, new season drink by Starbucks XD

When the sun was almost loosen its sunlight a bit, we went to visit few historical places such as A Famosa, Christ Church, Stadthuys and Maritime Museum. The Maritime Museum itself is a replica of the 'Flora de La Mar', a Portuguese ship that sank off the coast of Melaka while on its way to Portugal, carrying loot plundered from Melaka. However, we didn't enter the museum. All these historical places located at 1 place. So, can just walk by foot to all these buildings.

After visiting, we back to our hotel to have some rest before we continue that night again. We're staying at ND Hotel, near Mahkota Parade. 10 mins walk. Costed me only RM120 for 2 single twin bed. However, I got king bed instead. The hotel didn't worth my money though. Although the hotel is comfortable and new but it doesn't have tea making facilities and the TV only has local channels.

At night, we went to Wok and Pan restaurant (near Plaza Mahkota), a western food restaurant.  It's quite famous as there a lot of people went there. We have to sit outside as inside was full, even upstairs.  Business hours are from 12pm to 3pm, 6pm to 10pm (Closed on Monday). If you want to eat pork chop, you may come here. There are many types: Herb, BBQ, Mexican etc. Well, I tried the herbs one, but it didn't not satisfied me.  However, that is not important as the purpose was to reunite with my ex-coursemates. I managed to meet Eping after quite a longtime (Last time was at the end of university last year). Then the night went on by having yamcha at Station 1.

Next day, we went out for breakfast. This time, bakkut teh. It was quite cheap for me as it only costed us RM33 only for 3 person. So, really worth it. But the taste is so-so only.

Then, we went to Nadeje Patisserie Cafe (famous french mille crepe') at Mahkota Plaza. When we went there, there was a long queue already. Nadeje is quite famous, that's why. I guess most of them are visitors from outside Melaka. However, since we didn't want to wait longer, we chose to sit outside instead.

After that, before we get back to Segamat, we went for a late lunch at 3 pm. Uncle Ben brought us to a duck noodle stall, Tempura duck noodle. It costed only RM3. The taste is nice but not as nice as asam laksa that I tried the day before.

And that's the end of my journey in Melaka. There's a lot of Melaka famous food that I haven't tried yet such as chicken rice ball @Hoe Kee Chicken Rice or Chung Wah Restaurant , pork satay @ Sun May Hiong Satay House, coconut shake @ Klebang, satay celup @ Restoran Ban Lee Siang, naan and tandoori chicken @Pak Putra, and Peranakan food @Restoran Ole Sayang. Well, I can try them in my next trip to Melaka. Well, to get more nice places for food hunting in Melaka, I like to go to this website: http://food.malaysiamostwanted.com/locations/Melaka

That's all for today. =)
